Return of the Tomcatters, Part One; Welcome Home Chadderall! | Hampton Roads OpLove Photographer

Posted on January 12, 2012

You may recognize Christina from a previous post from her Pre-Deployment OpLove session at the Aviation Museum in Pungo. Just a few months after Chad left for his deployment with the USS George HW Bush, I got an email that she was pregnant! Throughout Chad’s homecoming, Christina has been a true super woman. She is a true inspiration for other wives going through a deployment, as she ran a household and dealt with the blows of home repairs without Chad home. She spent 90% of his deployment pregnant! Thankfully little Hudson waited 3 more weeks to make his debut.

When I arrived at the hangar, I met up with Christina and Brady, and also met Chad’s cool family. From the time that I arrived to the time we all said goodbye, they treated me like I was part of the family. (Thank you to guys for the laughs and the beer!) As the jets landed one by one, the emotions on Christina’s face just overwhelmed me and I started to cry as well! Over the course of Chad’s deployment, Christina and I have become good friends, and just knowing how she was feeling at that exact moment just brought me to tears because I was so happy that she was finally getting her husband back, and her family was back to normal. I love you Christina and Chad! So glad to see you two lovebirds back together again and that you were able to be together the day that Hudson decided to make his appearance into the world!

WELCOME HOME CHADDERALL!

P.S: Be on the lookout once again for this family…. We have some exciting news and CAN’T WAIT to share it with you! Good night all & have GLAMOURous night!

Daddy’s Home | Hampton Roads OpLove Photographer

Posted on January 11, 2012

Mrs. P emailed me for her husband’s homecoming back in October. We exchanged emails over the next few months, as she got constant changes to his arrival information. The day (or should we say night) finally came, and I met up with her and her 5 kids (YES, I said 5 kids) at the Navy MAC Terminal on Naval Station Norfolk. I had so much fun with her kiddos, and they definitely kept me laughing! As we patiently waited for him to arrive, people slowly came out of the Customs area. One by one, slowly… Then finally, there he was!!! Daddy was FINALLY home!!! As soon as they all saw daddy, the emotions from the last several months started to flow like crazy. The sight of a child relieved to see their daddy after several months is one of the main reasons I am a part of this great organization. Thank you to the P family for allowing me to be there on your special day!

Welcome Home Chief! | Hampton Roads OpLove Homecoming Photographer

Mrs. S first contacted me well before the Monterey left several months ago for a Pre Deployment session. We scheduled to meet at Fort Story, but unfortunately had to cancel. But I definitely promised her that I was all hers for the homecoming. I can count the numerous times that she called me frantically because the ship continued to change their arrival date. But they finally settled on a date, after changing it I believe 3 or 4 times! I met up with Mrs. S and her son at the pier, just as the ship was rounding the corner to dock at the pier. The entire time, I could see the emotions coming over Mrs. S, as she watched the ship pull in. We patiently waited on the pier once they allowed everyone to get closer to the ship, only to be ALMOST one of the last ones to reunite with their loved ones. Mrs. S continued to apologize, and I kept telling her it’s ok! I was not going to leave her side until she was reunited with her husband!

Boys Will Be Boys | Freemason District, Downtown Norfolk Lifestyle Photographer

Posted on January 11, 2012

Michael is another client that found me through my LivingSocial deal. He actually contacted me as I was driving back home from my session with the Thatchers! We immediately set up his family session the next weekend, and this time, it was in my favorite location; The Freemason District in Downtown Norfolk! We scheduled to meet at the Pagoda Gardens, as this was the place that they got married. Their little boys, Liam and Torin definitely kept me on my toes, but I had so much fun! Boys will definitely be boys! We roamed around the gardens, then ventured in the District. All I have to say is that I want to do EVERY session there now! :)

Out in the Country | Smithfield Lifestyle Photographer

Julie contacted me after purchasing my LivingSocial deal that ran in mid July this year. She asked me if I had any ideas for a country themed session, and of course I said yes! I LOVE it when my clients have a vision. We settled on Windsor Castle Park in Smithfield, since there were many interesting spots that would tie in with our concept. The day came, but with our luck, the weather sucked and we were forced to reschedule. But believe me, I am GLAD that we did! The day we rescheduled for turned out to be a BEAUTIFUL day and we were soooo excited!!!

Julie’s hubby is a Marine Corps officer, who is getting ready to get out soon. So before he did, she wanted to get some family photos done in his uniform. We chit chatted here and there, talking about Hawaii and the Marine Corps, since my hubby is a former Marine (He got out in last January after serving his enlistment). I had so much fun with the Thatcher family! And I thank Michael and little Nathan for being troopers as Julie and I had fun with the different areas.

Welcome Home Fitz! | Hampton Roads OpLove Homecoming Photographer

Posted on November 18, 2011

Mrs. S contacted me for her hubby’s homecoming with the USS Newport News. Mrs. S is a friend of another OpLove client who’s photos you saw previously. Her  photos had a touch of the 50s for her Pre Deployment session, Mrs. C. We set up the details and patiently waited for the day to come.

Luckily, I work on base, so the pier was a hop, skip and a jump away. I got there just in time to hear everyone screaming and jumping for joy, as the boat pulled closer to the pier. Mrs. S was there with her family, as well as his family, and they were all donning awesome Welcome Home signs for Fitz. Thank you to Mrs. C and family for allowing me to be there with you! :)

Here are my have shots from that special day…

When Will It Ever Be December? | Hampton Roads Already Gone OpLove Photographer

Posted on November 18, 2011

Miriam emailed me to schedule an Already Gone session for her, her two kiddos and their adorable yellow lab, Sunny. We set up a sunset session at Oak Grove Lake Park and crossed our fingers that the weather held up. Well, it definitely did not, so we had to reschedule. Thankfully, we only rescheduled once! Luckily, the day that we rescheduled for was a beautiful day!

I met up with Miriam and her family in the parking lot and we walked in together, just chit chatting about everything under the sun. I instantly fell in love with this family, as we had fun creating images for their dad’s album that I was sending under the OpLove policies. Here are a few of the awesome images we captured!

Thank you Miriam and family for a fun filled day despite how sweaty we got! Looking forward to hopefully capturing your special day next month!!

A New Addition to the Family | Hampton Roads Maternity Photographer

Posted on October 7, 2011

You may recognize Hiedi from previous posts. I did her pre-deployment and homecoming sessions earlier with OpLove. I was uberly excited when she contacted me to schedule her maternity session! Heidi is super shy when the camera is on her, so I made sure that the focus was mainly on her belly. We met up at Red Wing Park in Virginia Beach, since it was right down the road from her house. Didn’t want her to travel too far with her belly! We tried to get as close as possible to sunset, but it was still soo hot!

Once we started the session, she started to feel a little more at ease, and we got some pretty good shots!

Daddy’s Home | Norfolk OpLove Homecoming Photographer

I received an email from Mrs. Heald several months ago through OpLove. Her hubby was set to come home and when he left, she was only 7 months old. When I read that in her email, I just knew that I had to be there. Homecomings with daddys meeting their babies for the first time and daddys seeing their baby girl/boy a little older since they last saw them really gets me.

I met up with her at the pier and of course, with any other homecoming, it was hurry up and wait. But luckily, we didn’t have to wait too long!

KegBusters in the House! | Norfolk OpLove Homecoming Photographer

Posted on September 25, 2011

I met Melony and Allison at Julie’s homecoming just a few days before. Melony and Allison are members of the EODMU6 FRG (Family Readiness Group) and are the sweetest gals I’ve met! I arrived at the AMC Terminal and met up with them in the USO lounge upstairs. You could totally tell how happy they were, and of course they looked amazing for their men. We all waited in anticipation, til we finally saw the plane land. There was so much excitement and tears, of course I began to tear up! We all made our way downstairs to the area that they were going to be coming out of after picking up their bags.

Slowly but surely, they came out and all the emotions come out all over again!

But I just wanted to say thank you to the Davis and Dyer families for allowing me to be there with you on your special day!
